what we do
Kenya has been one of the pioneering countries in implementing PPM initiatives. KAPTLD spearheaded the PPM initiative in Kenya in 1997 and now oversees the programme under the mandate of the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation’s Division of Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (DLTLD) with operations in 7 regions, namely Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu, Nyeri, Nakuru, Naivasha and Eldoret. The success of the Kenyan PPM programme is being replicated in other countries.

PPM is the involvement of all health care providers – public and private as well as formal and informal – in the provision of TB care, in line with international standards for TB care for patients who have or are suspected of having tuberculosis.

Evidence shows that private providers are often the first point of contact for health services. These providers (with adequate training) could play an important role in increasing TB case detection and reducing diagnostic delays by timely referral, diagnosis, ensuring proper notification of all diagnosed cases, enrolment on appropriate treatment and monitoring of treatment under programme guidelines.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
